Liverpool have moved another step closer to winning the Premier League, and without even kicking a ball. The Reds are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Fulham.
And Arne Slot’s men will have the opportunity to extend their advantage at the top of the table after Arsenal dropped points away at Everton on Saturday. The Gunners technically cut into Liverpool’s lead courtesy of their 1-1 draw at Goodison Park, with the deficit now 11 points.
But having led by 12 points ahead of the latest round of fixtures, the Reds can extend their lead to 14 points, should they win at Craven Cottage, with seven games left to play.
Slot’s men currently sit on 73 points while Arsenal’s draw leaves them on 62, having played a game more than the Reds. Liverpool also boast a superior goal difference to the Gunners (+43 to +30) so technically 10 points could also be enough to clinch the title.
Meanwhile, the Reds still have to host Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday 11 May, meaning, the overall total they need could still reduce further.
Liverpool are actually likely to win the title before they even lock horns with the Gunners, with Arsenal poised to give them a guard of honour as a result.
As things stand, following Arteta’s side’s latest dropped points, the Reds could win the Premier League title at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 27 April.
But with Arsenal not in action that weekend due to Crystal Palace’s involvement in the FA Cup semi-finals, Liverpool could win the title without even kicking a ball.
The Gunners’ clash with the Eagles has been brought forward to Wednesday 23 April, with it possible that Arsenal would then have to win to keep their nearly extinguished title-hopes alive.
If Liverpool don’t extend their advantage with a win against Fulham though, they would potentially have to wait until their visit to Chelsea on Sunday 4 May to win the title
