Liverpool capitalised on Arsenal losing to West Ham United by beating Manchester City to go 11 points clear atop the Premier League table with 11 games to play
Liverpool players have celebrated their 2-0 win over Manchester City on social media and the whole squad were active online after the victory. Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah scored the Reds’ goals in east Manchester.
After the match, both posed for the customary dressing room photograph of the goalscorers, which the latter shares on Instagram. Szoboszlai posted separately following his first Premier League goal in almost a month. “Let’s gooo!” the midfielder captioned images of him celebrating the second goal.
Curtis Jones and Virgil van Dijk commented fire emojis on the post after both shared their post-match messages on the platform. The former dubbed it a “proper team performance” while the latter remarked: “Locked in!!”
Van Dijk’s compatriot Cody Gakpo commented “C” underneath the club captain’s post and, in his own, referenced his return from injury.
“Nothing like being back,” he said. “Thank y’all for the support Reds!”
His fellow forward, Luis Diaz, focused on the result, calling it a “great victory”. Ryan Gravenberch also chose the same adjective, dubbing the occasion a “great night in Manchester”. After playing alongside the Netherlands international for all 90-plus minutes, Alexis Mac Allister backed up his teammate’s message off the pitch, adding: “Three massive points earned through pure team effort. Thanks to the fans for your unconditional support in every match!”
Wataru Endo also emphasised the effort, summing it up with one word: “teamwork.”
Andy Robertson was another who highlighted the collective, posting: “Boom!!! Togetherness.” His fellow full-back also needed merely two words to sum up the feeling, anointing it a “super Sunday.”
The scale of the win was also not lost on Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah, with the former calling it a “massive win” with the latter celebrating a “big three points on the road”. Elliott also encouraged the club’s supporters to “enjoy reds”.
Kostas Tsimikas also shared several photos from the match without adding a caption, while Darwin Nunez shared the club’s full-time post on his Instagram story without comment. It was Ibrahima Konate, though, who summed up the evening. He simply said: “We are Liverpool.”
