Liverpool are one step closer to winning the Premier League after beating West Ham United 2-1 at Anfield
Liverpool have successfully extended their advantage in the Premier League title race after a last-gasp win over West Ham United at Anfield. Coming into the weekend, Liverpool’s points advantage over second place was 11, so with seven matches to go, they required another 11 to mathematically ensure the Premier League trophy is headed to Anfield
That situation was altered when the Gunners succumbed to a 1-1 draw with Brentford on Saturday. It left the Reds requiring a reduced nine points to wrap up the race, the equivalent of three more victories.
A calamitous error between Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson in the dying minutes had seemingly granted the Hammers a draw, though the former made up for his part in the farce with a headed winner late in front of The Kop.
After West Ham, Arne Slot’s men therefore require only six more points from their final six matches of the 2024/25 campaign. This means two more wins will be good enough even if Arsenal collect maximum points from their upcoming fixtures.
Liverpool continue their quest next Sunday, when they travel to relegation-threatened Leicester City (4:30pm KO). The Foxes should come at them with full force; otherwise, their relegation to the Championship will be made official

So, the Reds would have four matches of the season remaining if they confirm it against Spurs – five if they are able to do so the week earlier at Leicester.
Champions crowned earlier than the final day of the campaign are entitled to receive a guard of honour from all whom they face afterwards. In the month of May they open with a visit to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea.
