According to El Nacional, Darwin Nunez has decided to leave Liverpool this summer, three years after joining the club.
Despite being signed as a major investment at the request of Jurgen Klopp, Nunez has struggled to meet the expectations set for him. While Klopp always defended him, his performance has been inconsistent, with a slow adaptation to the Premier League and criticism for his lack of finishing.
Last summer, after the departure of key defender and the arrival of Arne Slot, Nunez was relegated to a secondary role, with players like Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz preferred ahead of him. As a result, Nunez is now considering leaving Liverpool, with offers from Saudi Arabia and Italy, though his priority is to return to Spain, where he previously played for UD Almeria.
While Barcelona rejected the idea, Atletico Madrid has shown firm interest in Nunez, with Diego Simeone valuing him as a potential partner for Julian Alvarez. Nunez could end up at the Estadio Metropolitano, especially if Antoine Griezmann leaves.
