The Liverpool boss was charged and handed a two-match ban after the Merseyside derby.
The Football Association (FA) have revealed the reasons Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was sent off by Michael Oliver after the Merseyside derby on February 12.
Slot, 46, and his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, were shown red cards by referee Michael Oliver after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park last month.
The Toffees’ defender James Tarkowksi scored a last-gasp equaliser before chaos ensued.
Shortly after the goal, Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones both received second yellow cards after they became embroiled in a tussle.
And the usually composed Slot appeared annoyed when he spoke to Oliver, 40, and his officials after the game.
Everton, Liverpool and Slot were later charged by the FA, with the Dutch handed a two-match touchline ban for acting “in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour”.
The 46-year-old was also slapped with £70,000 fine by independent Regulatory Commission.
As a result, he had to watch from the stands during his side’s 2-0 victory against Newcastle on February 26 and will do the same when the Reds host Southampton on March 8 – although he will be in the dugout for Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on March 5.
There has since been a debate about what Slot said to the referee to warrant such a punishment.
The FA have now released a report which includes what the Liverpool boss allegedly said to Oliver.
“It was alleged that AS’ manner was confrontational and aggressive,” the report explained.
“It was alleged that he initially used abusive words whilst shaking the Referee’s hand, including that the Referee had “f*****g give them everything” and that AS hoped that the Referee “was proud of that performance.
“The Referee thereafter confirms (having reviewed the video footage to clarify) that he was approached again by AS around one minute later. In this exchange, AS once again shook the Referee’s hand and said, “if we don’t win the league, I’ll f*****g blame you.”
“It is then further alleged that AS turned to the Assistant Referee and shouted twice that it was “a f*****g disgrace.” As a result of AS’ conduct, he was shown a red card by the Referee.”
