The FA have officially confirmed that Liverpool boss Arne Slot will be banned for several matches.
An official statement from the FA has confirmed that Liverpool manager Arne Slot will face some time off the pitch after being handed an extended touchline ban.
After a last minute goal from Everton’s James Tarkowski caused chaos during the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, match Michael Oliver handed out four red cards after blowing the final whistle.
Among those sent off after the game were Liverpool boss Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff who were dismissed due to their furious outburst towards the match officials.
And now, following a lengthy review of the incident, the FA have officially confirmed that they have handed the Liverpool pair an extended ban, meaning they will be absent for a massive fixture.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool welcome Newcastle United to Anfield for a thrilling Premier League clash, but they will be without Slot and Hulshoff, after the FA confirmed that they would be banned for two matches.
This means that they will also be absent for the Premier League clash with Southampton on March 8.
Confirming the news on social media, the FA wrote: “An independent Regulatory Commission has sanctioned Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff in relation to the Premier League fixture between the clubs on Wednesday 12 February.”
Details of the ban were confirmed by The Times journalist Paul Joyce, who added: “Arne Slot will serve a two-match touchline ban beginning tonight v Newcastle United as punishment for confronting match officials following Everton game.
“Also fined £70,000. Assistant Sipke Hulshoff also banned for two matches and fined £7,000.
“Everton and Liverpool fined £65,000 and £50,000 respectively for failing to control players.”
The ban means that Slot will be back on the touchline for Liverpool for their massive Carabao Cup final clash with Newcastle United on March 16.
