Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip with an update on the future of Bournemouth defender Dean Huijse

Liverpool may have been given fresh hope when it comes to completing a potential summer transfer. The January window has only been closed for a couple of weeks and rumours are already starting to emerge about the business that may be conducted at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen what areas of the squad Liverpool will plan to strengthen in the summer. One position that has seen suggestions of being in need of reinforcements is centre-back, with several players being linked with moves to Anfield in the months ahead.

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has been mentioned on the rumour mill in recent weeks. The centre-back was signed by the Cherries last summer from Juventus and has been tipped for a bright future ever since his time in Italy, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Roma.

Now an update has emerged on Huijsen’s future which could provide a boost to Liverpool. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Huijsen has a £50million release clause in his contract at Bournemouth, but adds that it will not become active until this summer.

The latest report does not mention Liverpool specifically, but adds that several clubs are apparently already showing an interest in signing the 19-year-old defender. It was recently reported by TBR Football that the Reds are keen on signing Huijsen, but will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea.
