Cody Gakpo
Cody Gakpo missed Sunday afternoon’s 2-1 win over Wolves after suffering a knock in the Merseyside derby last week. And the forward is a doubt for Wednesday night’s trip to Villa Park, with Slot admitting Gakpo is struggling to overcome his current issue.
When providing an update on the Dutchman in his post-match press conference, Slot said: “He got a knock in the Everton game. Up for debate, Wednesday is fast, so let’s wait and see.”
Joe Gomez
Gomez returned to action at Plymouth Argyle earlier this month after a six-week injury lay-off, but lasted just 11 minutes before he suffered a recurrence and had to be replaced by Isaac Mabaya. After the tie, Slot confirmed Liverpool’s England international had suffered a relapse of the muscle injury he had sustained in the 5-0 win over West Ham United in December.
When asked about Gomez’s situation last week, Slot said: “Joe, it’s the same leg where he had an injury last time. We are still assessing that, but he will definitely not be available tomorrow [vs Wolves].”
Tyler Morton
Earlier this month, Tyler Morton revealed that he had a successful operation on a shoulder injury. A return date remains up in the air as he works his way back to fitness.
