Liverpool re-established their lead at the Premier League summit with a hard-earned home win over Wolves on Sunday afternoon. In a game played in windy conditions, goals in the first half from Luis Diaz and a Mohamed Salah penalty were sufficient to secure a 2-1 triumph after the visitors produced a strong showing after the break in which Matheus Cunha pulled one back.
The result means Arne Slot’s side are once again seven points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table ahead of difficult away games at Aston Villa and Manchester City over the next week.

Almost caught out by wind with one long ball first half but recovered. Slightly lucky to avoid second yellow after collision with Cunha. Booked and subbed.

Another for whom conditions made life tough before break and in second half took too many risks playing ball out of back while occasional lack of composure. Booked

Decision-making not always on point first half but delivered one dangerous cross for Jota. Tough going manning rearguard after break but properly stuck at it.
Ryan Gravenberch 5
Started with improvement on midweek but slightly sloppy control at time put him in some unnecessarily awkward positions. Lost Cunha for Wolves first and found wanting defensively too many times.
Alexis Mac Allister 6
Again the most impressive Liverpool midfielder first half with his willingness to put his foot in and move ball forward quickly. However later became infected by team-wide inability to pass to colleague.
Mohamed Salah 7
Given some difficult balls to control early on but began to get better of Ait-Nouri and Toti and part in first goal before netting penalty for second. Largely had to plough lone furrow after interval.
Dominik Szoboszlai 8
Plenty of hustle and bustle before break and decent touches when in possession with one shot wide first half. The one Liverpool midfielder who stood up to Wolves physicality after interval.
Luis Diaz 7
Far more comfortable on the left and played key part in build-up before scoring opener and then winning the penalty for second. Quieter after break, though. Subbed
Diogo Jota 7
Volleyed early chance wide and excellent turn on halfway prompted opener before later shot blocked. Didn’t need to go down for overturned penalty claim, though. Subbed.

Jarell Quansah (for Konate 46) 6
Tough going as the rest of the Liverpool team largely opted against defending for much of second half. Good interception late on prevented Wolves tap-in equaliser.
Conor Bradley (for Alexander-Arnold 64) 7
Took a little while to settle amid the defensive mayhem to which he was introduced but showed value late on.
